Reports for Information in Native XML Format
January 20, 2009
Recently, a few clients have asked about using commercial Business Intelligence (BI) software to generate reports for information that is stored in native XML format. I received these requests from clients with data-centric XML-based applications, where they want to generate reports against transactional data. For DB2 pureXML, there are a few possible approaches to generating such reports. See the following two articles for more information:
-
Create Business Reports for XML Data with Cognos 8 BI and DB2 pureXML (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0811saracco/index.html)
In this article, Cindy Saracco and Tad Worley tell you how to use Cognos 8 Business Intelligence to generate reports for information stored using DB2 pureXML. DB2 pureXML is, of course, the native XML storage capability in the IBM DB2 database.
Create Business Reports for XML Data using IBM DataQuant and DB2 pureXML (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0901patterson/index.html)
In this article, Bryan Patterson and Terry Zhang tell you how to use DataQuant to generate reports for information stored using DB2 pureXML. DataQuant is a Business Intelligence (BI) tool from IBM, based upon the Eclipse open development platform and available on a variety of systems including IBM System Z™, Linux, Microsoft® Windows, IBM AIX®, and Solaris.
